Issaquah

After several weekends being spent in or near Issaquah I had to take time to explore this beautiful area. My drive down was so beautiful, as I got into Issaquah I couldn’t take my eyes off the trees changing colors and the amazing mountain views. I couldn’t stop singing ” little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same”, I exchanged boxes to houses of course . The area I was in was filled with parks and shops and all of the homes surrounding the area were so cute.

A few weekends ago Issaquah celebrated Salmon Days we were there for a football game so we didn’t participate in the fun but it is on our to do list for next year. Watching the area fill with hundreds of people and the smiles on everyone’s face I am sure it was a great day for everyone.

From the people I meet and the area in general it looks to be a great place to grab a bite to eat, have a few drinks, listen to music and enjoy a great urban setting.

Carkeek Park

Our venture to Carkeek Park was awesome! We came with picnic in hand and ready to explore. It was a great day.   This park is filled with picnic tables, a big green area to play ball or chase, playground, walking trails and of course the beach across the train tracks and bridge.  The beach is a little rocky and water is cold but the drift wood is awesome. We were told today that seals use to always come to this area, we kept our eyes open but didn’t see any. We did however find tons of crabs and clams. We ate lunch and discovered the beauty of the forest and awesome trails. While walking the trail we came across a couple of homes and at that moment I wished we lived there. Surrounded by the water and trees that’s the way to do it. This beautiful place is only 25 minutes away from home and will stay on our list of must go to parks.

Bothell Library

IMG_0537 IMG_0539 IMG_0540 IMG_0542 IMG_0543 IMG_0547

One of my favorite pastimes as a kid was going to the library so I was so excited to check out the Library in Bothell. With a quick form filled out and a look at my drivers license I was the holder of a brand new King County library card. Whoa! I spent an hour looking around, checking out 4 books and making myself familiar with what will become a weekly outing for me. I was happy to see all the classes available and all of the people utilizing the public library. When my kids were younger we tried to to attend the fun programs at least once a month. Here is the schedule for all the classes and programs https://goo.gl/H8p3Ax . Have fun and keep reading.

Pikes Market

IMG_0368

I still can’t get over that it only takes 20 minutes to get to Seattle from Bothell. Today we decided to go to Pikes Market and it was so worth it. From the smell to the environment it never gets old.

IMG_0369

It was not crowded so we had front row seats to the fish market, when they called 2 Cods my eyes lit up like I was 9 years old again. I wanted to wait for more but we kept on moving.

I love seeing all the fruits and vegetable stands and the amazing artists that showcase their talents.

We listened to a man and young lady on a banjo and washtub bass. Amazing!

Our final stop was Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory every time we head into Seattle we always pass it but never have we stopped in. Today we just couldn’t help ourselves. The caramel apples always look so good so we bought 4 apples. I have to say they all tasted as good as they look. We can’t wait to go back and try different ones. I love Seattle and all it offers.

Mill Creek Town Center

Driving home today I came across the cutest shopping center I have seen so far.  Mill Creek Town Center is in a park like setting with tons of stores, boutiques, restaurants, yoga, doctors, dentists and so much more.  I found myself spinning in circles to see everything they offered.  I came across The City of Mill Creek North Creek Trail and on this beautiful day is was crowded with moms and dads pushing strollers, kids running around and people walking the dog.  Not too shabby for 1:00 on a Friday.   I stopped by Nothing Bundt Cake and devoured a chocolate chocolate chip cake.  I wish I would have taken a picture but it was gone before I knew it.  I had a great time walking around and exploring.  I can see many date nights here!

Bothell Landing Park

Since moving to Washington I have loved exploring and getting to know the area.  So many surprises and off the path finds.  One of these treasures I came across while driving in Downtown Bothell was Bothell Landing Park.  While the construction in Bothell continues with new stores and homes this area showed us a small piece of history within the center of this great park.  I learned about the Beckstrom Log Cabin which was built in 1883 and moved to Bothell Landing sometime in the 1990s.  The home was a one bedroom home that at some point was the home to 16 children.   The next little piece of history was the Lytle House which was built in 1896 and was the home and office for Dr. Elmer Lytle and is one of the oldest houses still standing in Bothell.  They now use this home as the parks and recreation offices   This little bit of history was surrounded by a modern day playground and takes you right to the Sammamish River Trail.  Along the trail was beautiful scenery, ducks, people walking and riding their bikes, they also had work out stations which we took full advantage of.  Finding Bothell Landing may have been an accident but it was an amazing day and my family looks forward to many more visits.

From Renter to Home Owner

What a big move from renter to buyer…  Is it worth it?  In today’s market I would say absolutely.  With the going rent for our area being the same as a monthly mortgage payment you should at least look into it.

There are many benefits of owning your home.

  • This may be the biggest investment you will ever make and within time you will build real estate wealth.
  • Building equity is a great benefit of owning a home. You pay your mortgage every month and a small piece comes off of what you owe,  it’s like a saving account you didn’t even know you had.
  • Always the most popular is that the tax code allows you to deduct your mortgage interest from your taxes.
  • No more asking permission to paint or change the flooring.  Now it’s yours you can do as you would like.
  • Why pay your landlord’s home off when you could be paying off your own home.

When you decide it’s time to take the next step, whats next:

The first step will be to get you in contact with a loan officer to see what you qualify for.   Please be prepared with pay stubs, W2s, and what ever else they may need from you.

Once you have an idea of what you qualify for working on a monthly budget will help keep you comfortable.

And then the fun begins.  Finding a house that you can call home.

If you are ready to get started finding a loan officer and to begin this process give me a call 540-226-8304 or send me an email agentcathie@gmail.com.
